IT Project Manager – Job DescriptionRole OverviewThe IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering technology projects such as software development, infrastructure upgrades, system integrations, or digital transformation initiatives.
They bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution.
Project Planning & StrategyDefine project scope, objectives, and technical requirementsCreate detailed project plans, timelines, and milestonesSelect appropriate methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)Identify risks related to technology, security, and dependencies
Technical CoordinationWork closely with developers, system engineers, and QA teamsTranslate business requirements into technical tasksEnsure proper system architecture and integration planningCoordinate with DevOps for deployment and environments
Agile & Delivery ManagementLead Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)Manage product backlog with Product OwnersTrack sprint progress and remove blockersEnsure continuous delivery and iteration
Tools & Systems ManagementUse project tracking and collaboration tools such asJira (Agile tracking)Confluence (documentation)Microsoft Project (planning)Trello (task tracking)
Stakeholder CommunicationAct as the main liaison between technical teams and business stakeholdersProvide regular updates on progress, risks, and timelinesManage expectations and handle scope changes
Risk & Issue ManagementIdentify technical risks (e.g., system failures, delays, integration issues)Develop mitigation and contingency plansResolve blockers quickly to keep delivery on track
Budget & Resource ManagementEstimate project costs (development, infrastructure, licenses)Allocate resources efficiently across teamsMonitor expenses and optimize spending

Required Skills & QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related fieldExperience3–7+ years in IT project management or related rolesExperience managing software development or infrastructure projects Technical SkillsUnderstanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)Familiarity with APIs, databases, cloud platformsKnowledge of DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines)Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles Certifications (Preferred)PMP (Project Management Professional)Certified Scrum Master (CSM)PRINCE2 Key CompetenciesStrong leadership in technical environmentsAbility to communicate with both engineers and business teamsProblem-solving under pressureTime and priority managementAdaptability in fast-changing tech environments
